Will the PhiferReader hold books, paperbacks, magazines, crossword puzzles, and other reading material?

Yes, the PhiferReader is an excellent reading stand for all sizes and thicknesses of books, paperbacks, magazines , etc. (of all sizes.)

How do I load the reading material onto the front of the PhiferReader?

Simply place your reading material on the reading lid, lifting the left and then right page holders to hold your pages down. For added security use the center book wire (see question #3 below)

What is the curved wire I see sticking out slightly from the back of the lid below my book?

That is the Center Book Wire which you can insert into the middle of your book for added security of the book to the lid. To load a paperback for example pull and rotate the Center Book Wire toward the front and insert it into the middle of your paperback. First the wire goes through a slot and then push it up into your half-opened book. This is easiest while holding your paperback almost in a "V" position. (See figure A)

NOTE: The Center Book Wire has to be inserted only one time (about halfway through your book) and then you turn the pages back to wherever you want to start reading.

What are the four indentions or slots I see on the reading lid?

These slots are for clipping your secured reading material onto the side of the PhiferReader case in a vertical position. This permits "side reading", a comfortable way of reading while in bed on your side. (See figure B) The small buttons you see allow you to tilt your book slightly for hands-free reading.

Why is there a long slot in the bottom of the case?

This is the place to insert the prop wire through the back of the case. Close the case and hang your PhiferReader on a treadmill or elsewhere.

How much does the PhiferReader weigh?

The PhiferReader weighs approximately 3 pounds.
